The major oil companies have reported over $100 billion in net profit over the last 3 years and easily have the cash to bailout the big 3 by buying up a lot of their worthless stock. GM in particular, has had ample opportunity to push newer technologies to stay ahead of the curve with electric cars and even hybrids. At every turn, they did the wrong thing.
