Resolved Question: Is the whole "going green" fad a load of crap?

There are advertisements every where about recycling, buying hybrid cars, etc. But is it really worth the time and effort? I'll just point out a few things I know from my knowledge. Hybrid cars run out of battery life faster, hence they must be replaced more frequently and batteries have toxic chemicals harmful to the environment. Recycling, I believe is worthless because it would take hundreds of years to recycle all of the aluminum and plastic we have sitting in our rotting land fills. And also for these electric-powered cars, who in the world has the money nowadays to pay for a fat electric bill each month and to continually buy batteries besides someone making $100,000+ annually, same for hybrids.
